bangor Institute is a private college which will soon be located in the beautiful foothills of North Georgia. Although it offers an undergraduate program in Holistic Health, and Metaphysics, it is primarily a Graduate School for Holistic oriented programs of Naturopathy, Religion and Human Behavior.

Bangor Institute is composed of various Departments administered by "Facilitators," who are recognized in their field. Their teachings are marked by a different concept: they teach not so much what to learn as how to learn.

The philosophy of Camelot as expressed in Bangor can best be described by Kahil Gibran:


"What is it to work with love? It is to build a house with affection, as if your beloved were to dwell in that house. It is to sow the seeds with tenderness, as if your beloved were to eat the fruit. It is the teaching of the heart."

Although Bangor offers training in Holistic Health, Psychology and Metaphysics, it is primarily a School for Holistic oriented programs of Religion and Human Behavior. Bangor Institute teaches a holistic philosophy... that all parts of the universe are interrelated... "As above, so below."

Education is a part of everyone's life: true education is not something you experience and then forget. It is a way of traveling your life pathway properly. Education at Bangor Institute draws on all traditions, both ancient and modern for training the Whole person...Body, Mind, and Spirit alike. Development of intuition is given equal weight with mastering the subject matter, and specific disciplines are the context in which the pathway is traveled.

This technique of training the whole person relies on the concept of learning excellence. Excellence requires balance: An Archery expert, when instructing her students in marksmanship, teaches that the arrow will not hit its mark if the mind of the archer is disoriented and confused. An arrow's path is a good indication of the state of mind of the archer...an indication of how much the student has learned about the subtle balance of Gentleness, Strength, Relaxation and Control.

The tremendous beauty of this philosophy is that it shows us a pathway back to an understanding and appreciation of nature as a way of life. By integrating the various dimensions of ourselves, we remain healthy.

This description of life as a living balanced system suggests a new concept of "Health," which can be summarized as: "The ability of a living system to respond adaptively and positively to a wide variety of environmental challenges."

The Welsh Tradition, the model for Bangor Institute, is an ancient one. It derives from the ancient Celtic Bardic College System that flourished in Wales and Ireland from before recorded history through the third century A.D. This system provided a focus for all areas of learning current in the British Isles at the time: Religion, Philosophy, and the Arts and Sciences. Like the Celtic College System, the educational philosophy of Bangor Institute emphasizes the many fold development of the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of the whole person. This development of the many aspects of humanity also involves the intuition.

Intuition is not an easy sense to describe. It is the act or ability to "know" without the use of rational processes; an immediate cognition of basic truths. While the methods of training your intellectual, emotional, and physical capabilities may be obvious, the training of your intuition and spiritual qualities are not.

At Bangor Institute, intuition and spiritual awareness are learned through contemplative practices such as Meditation and Martial Arts. These practices develop a balance between strength and gentleness which is the mental environment where intuition and spiritual awareness can flourish.

This systematic development of intuition stems from the teachings of Taliesen, who was a Druid teacher and celebrated Bard in Wales. He developed his mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects through both study and contemplative practices. In doing so he became truly wise and was revered as a sage and bard. He taught using the ancient Celtic Bardic System.

The form of instruction which we have developed from this ancient learning system is the foundation for what we call the Five Fold Path. Students in all areas of learning are taught and evaluated in five basic ways:

starFirst, awareness is built on the willingness of the student to see and acknowledge without judgement, the psychological experiences of his or her life.

starSecond, the student's psychic, intellectual and intuitive insight is developed by specific scholarly and artistic disciplines as well as contemplative practices.

starThird, the student develops an appreciation for the cultural context and tradition within which a specific discipline has arisen.

starFourth, the student develops the ability to truly communicate with others. This includes appreciation of the value of the experiences, insights, and viewpoints of other people; relating to them with openness, honesty and curiosity; and finally:

starFifth, the student develops the ability to take effective and positive action in the world at large, whether it is in the area of study, family or job.

A teaching system based on holism may seem unlikely, but throughout life we see that when this principle is applied, people become more balanced with nature, themselves and other people. The training of intuition and intellect at Bangor Institute brings forth each student's creative abilities and has a positive impact on the way various disciplines are taught there. Whatever the course of study, each student, as well as the faculty and staff members, takes delight in the educational pathway on which they travel.

General Requirements

Each applicants previous academic record should reflect promise of growth, seriousness of purpose, and a sense of responsibility. The Institute reserves the right to admit only those applicants whose general records indicate they would be successful in the institute environment. The institute also reserves the right to examine further, any applicant by the use of psychological, achievement, aptitude tests and personal interview.

Bangor Institute is an Equal Opportunity Educational institution. Admission is not influenced by race, sex, color, natural origin or handicap.

Applying for Admission

Applications for admission may be obtained from the admissions office, Bangor Institute, P.O. Box 673206, Marietta, Georgia 30006. Completion of all forms and requirements is mandatory before any request for admission can be considered. Completed forms must be received at least 90 days prior to the registration date and must be accompanied by a non-refundable $20.00 check or money order to cover the expense of processing the application.

If the application forms, CEEB scholastic aptitude test scores; and other required records of the applicant are found to be completed and in proper order, the applicant will be evaluated without regard to race, sex, color, national origin or handicap.

College Entrance Requirements

  1. Admission:

    Bachelor Degree - a student may be admitted as a prospective candidate for a Bachelors degree upon completion of the first two years of a B.A. Program or equivalent, or completion of 100 quarter hours.

    Masters Degree - A student may be admitted as a prospective candidate upon recommendation of the Dean of the College, the completion of 135 quarter units of a B.A. program, completion of a B.A. program, or equivalent.

    D.D or Ph. D. Degree - A student may be admitted as a prospective candidate upon recommendation of the Dean of the College and completion of a M.A. program or equivalent.

  2. Time Limit:

    All requirements for degrees must be completed within 6 years of the first registration for study toward the degree.

  3. Program of Study:

    A candidate must complete a program of study which constitutes a logical whole. The course listed in the program must carry the minimum units of credit determined by the degree and at least one half of the elective course must be within the discipline chosen by the candidate.

  4. Foreign Language Requirement:

    Upon the option of the Dean of the school, a reading knowledge of a modern foreign language may be required of candidates (French, Welsh, German, Russian or Spanish.)

  5. Acceptance of Credit by Transfer:

    Transfer of Core Discipline Credit may be allowed when recommended by the Dean. Such transfer cannot exceed 80 quarter units (Bachelor), 40 quarter units (Master and PhD) and 25 quarter units (N.D.). No grade below C for Bachelors and B for Graduate degree may be transferred.

  6. Grade Averages:

    To be eligible for graduation, a student must maintain a 3.0 average on all graduate courses taken and 2.5 average on all undergraduate courses taken.

  7. Final Exam:

    All Bachelor candidates must pass final exams in their courses. All graduate candidates must pass a written exam in their courses, prepare a thesis or dissertation, and/or complete all course work and the dissertation. All N.D. candidates must develop a thesis and complete intern requirements.

The Sword of Dynion Mwyn

The Sword provides news, views, and other information primarily of and for the students, members and friends of The Welsh Tradition of Dynion Mwyn and selected members of the International Pagan Community. The Sword is the official journal of the Church of Dynion Mwyn, and has a section which is devoted to the Southeastern Pagan Alliance (SEPA). We are primarily interested in news of topical interest, and articles pertaining to Witchcraft, Wicca, the Occult and Paganism. Deadline for the Beltane, 2005 issue is April 1, 2005. All submissions must include legal name and address. Names will be withheld or magickal names substituted on request. Subscription lists, names, addresses, etc. are not given out or sold. The Sword of Dynion Mwyn may mail advertisements on behalf of approved advertisers. All news and articles should be submitted by the 1st of the month proceeding the issue date.

The Sword is published at the eight sacred festivals of the year during the months of: December, February, March, May, June, August, September, and November.
